Rodent Removal, Fat Bastard, & a Three Day Weekend

So, I have been away for a couple of days or so and life has been mostly crappy at best. (I almost typed the other word but it wouldn't hurt me to use less swear words to get my point across.)

As usual, Murphy's Law pretty much describes what happens in my life. I can say this much; I think I am actually approaching more of a sense of normalcy since I have been here for a couple of weeks.

I'll get the bad news out of the way. My daughter's granny had an upper gi yesterday and she has cancer in her esophagus and stomach. It is a pretty good chance that there is also cancer in her lungs and colon as x-rays taken while she was in the hospital shows spots there. Her granny sees a doctor tomorrow and then another on Monday. The prognosis is mostly grim. She has stage four cancer and because the cancer is in her stomach the gastro doctor believes that she has much of it elsewhere, as usually cancer reaches the stomach at the end stages.

My daughter is taking the news okay, understanding that this will probably be her granny's last year of life. Children seem to be able to wrap themselves around things so much better than adults.

In other news, and good stuff this time, my daughter started school on Wednesday here and enjoys her teacher, class, and riding the bus. She came home very excited today with a borrowed recorder and proudly played "Hot Cross Buns" several times through out the afternoon and evening.

On the relationship front, nothing is ever constant (it seems) in this household for either woman. I personally have decided to completely get off the man roller coaster as it has pretty much sickened me physically. Not really, but close.

R has finally crossed a line that I simply will not excuse, and despite my insistence that we are only friends and I have nothing to offer him AND I do not want to be his girlfriend, tough love (or lack of love) is now in order. Just a piece advice from a woman who has been through it: if you are trying to get on her good side, don't do stuff that is the exact opposite of mature, responsible behavior that shows you want her back.

Watching the rest of what goes on has stuck in my craw, so at this point about 95% of the male population belongs in a deep hole, in my opinion. Harsh, but just how I feel, people.

I am honestly at the point where I would rather be alone without any male influence in my life than put up with dysfunctional abnormal crazy crap. Trust me, this garbage is NOT love. Call me old fashioned, but don't call me a Bible beater. I think the 1st Corinthians chapter 13 version of love is pretty close to the mark.

Hey, if I am coming across with an edge, blame Billy Bob Thornton too. I watched "Mr. Woodcock" yesterday...lol.

On another completely different note, because I cook when I am stressed, I made a pot of chili last night, and made baked chicken and noodles in the oven. We will have dinner to eat on for a few nights.

I guess I haven't gotten to the meat of my post, pardon the pun. My daughter's aunt already owes me $15 dollars for taking the dead mice out of the house yesterday and today. I joked with her that the first would cost $5 and the next would be $10. Her cats go outside through the cat door and bring her lovely gifts. I am glad that they are dead, otherwise it would cost her a lot more for me to (attempt to) catch them.

As for Fat Bastard, he may still be backed up in the corner out in the enclosed room off the west side of the house. In all actuality, he may be a she, but I don't really know because I won't get close enough to pick up the ugly possum by the tail. I went out and it scared the nasty thing, and then the dogs chased it into a corner. We have big trash cans now, so Fat Bastard is on a diet and unable to tear apart the garbage bags that go out there. I may have to rename him/her.

Daughter lucked out and she has a three day weekend. I think the teachers are off tomorrow for records, because the marking period is over. No definite plans for the next few days, but I'm not planning on getting cabin fever either watching the icicles melt outside. There is an up side. No getting up at 6:30 and driving up to the highway waiting for the bus to come at 7:05. AM, that is.

As if things aren't exciting enough here, my little female cat is in the first heat of her short life. Argh. Beginning of next month, no more of that. She is gettin' fixed, y'all.

I think it's time to end this post. It's almost a book! Don't forget my rodent removal services. They're pretty cheap for dead ones.
