I think (knock on wood) I've got most of the irritating bugs, not actual viruses, off of my computer. My techie whiz son gave some good advice and told me to download and use Mozilla Firefox instead of Internet Explorer. When I was using Explorer, the page or pages would suddenly close, and recently when I got on eBay, it immediately closed.
I removed extra programs today too, so that would free up some space and speed things along better. My son had installed Window Washer on here too and that is helpful in better speed and quality too. He suggested I use it once a week. I would highly recommend Window Washer, and especially helps on this old dinosaur of a computer.
We were fortunate to upgrade from simple local phone service and dial-up internet to an unlimited plan of local and long distance through AT&T and their Yahoo DSL service. The package costs about $25 more a month than what I was paying TSI and Net Zero, but I am certain that we used at least that much on Boost cards to recharge our cell phones. That is what I have been using for long distance in the past year, and at 10 to 20 cents a minute, an unlimited plan makes more sense.
I have really enjoyed being able to get online without having to tie up the house phone and to have faster DSL service. Now we can receive phone calls anytime and I have been able to call my friends who are long distance at will too.
I know that for some, and maybe many, having a home and cell phone as well as internet access is a luxury, but at less than $100 a month, it provides access that the high cost of gas doesn't allow anymore. In addition, I am ready to sell on eBay once again, and that is not only available to me but I can do it more efficiently now.
