Feels like Friday ... or Post No.200!

Today is my daughter's last day of school for ten days. Ten days of not having to get up at the butt crack and get her on the bus shortly after 7.

Yippee! Any of you that know me, know that I suck at mornings. If life were lived second shift, I would be right in! I love staying up late, until 1 or 2. Sometimes it works out, sometimes not.

It is somewhat overcast today but still warm and nearing the 60's. Too bad it doesn't stay this way. But it is still only April and this is, after all, Michigan.

I have been eating healthier and dieting for over a week now. I know I am losing weight not only by the scale but also by my clothes that aren't as snug. I am trying to eat healthier by making lower fat substitutions and including whole grains and lean protein.

For breakfast I have been eating oatmeal and skim milk with cinnamon. Oatmeal is so cheap and so good for you! And with the cinnamon in it I don't really mind the absence of sugar. For myself, I find oatmeal filling and I like knowing how good it is for me, my body, and wow, my heart!

Now, I got to make a habit of exercising every day, or nearly. They say it takes 21 days to make something a habit. I really could use the physical activity.

I am sitting here jamming on U2 while writing and checking out posts. I haven't heard any of their new album, but I like to rock to their old stuff. It's funny, maybe ironic, I remember when they were mostly obscure in the eighties and one of the girl's in my college dorm hall was crazy about them. I remember shopping in a shop in Columbus, Ohio and finding a calendar with them and buying it for her. They really weren't all that mainstream then. Those were the days.

I went to the library last night while daughter went to church program for kids. I just love the place; there is so much! Except they don't have CD's at the one in Caro. I came home with a pile of books and magazines. And I picked her up some books. A couple I read as a child: Stuart Little, and Are You There God? It's Me Margaret.

An aside. You do know that the book is almost always better than the movie? I encourage you to read first. So much more to eat up in a book, and get involved in the story.

I waited til almost last to share about my interview Tuesday. I think it went really well. I was interviewed by three staff and they asked plenty of questions, but I was comfortable and friendly and open. Sometimes it was more like a conversation than an interview. I will know next week around Wednesday if they decide to hire me. I am so hoping!

The job search still continues. I just keep applying for those that I am qualified for, and in this day can be few. Employers are very specific about what education and experience they want.

It's after two and I should go peel and cook the potatoes for my vegetarian shepherd's pie. I think that's what we will have for dinner, with mixed vegetables. Those two things go together like peas and carrots.

Spring Break...woo hoo! No homework for ten days! Time to spend with my daughter, at least the part that she is with me. We want to go see Monsters vs. Aliens this weekend.

I should end this post here. It looks kind of long...lol. Enjoy your day!
