Difficult Times When Dealing with Mental Illness

So I wasn't going to write but then decided I would.  I'm going to make it short and (not so) sweet as I am really ready for bed.  This chest cold that has blessed me with its presence is kicking my a**.
My daughter's dad was unsuccessful in his most recent suicide attempt, thankfully.  This time he meant business, and didn't call anyone as he always has done after he downed some pills.  Her dad is on a ventilator and will be on it another couple of days.
His family, daughter and I had tried to reach him throughout Wednesday with no luck.  Fortunately, during the welfare check that I called in he was discovered still alive.  He is going to live, even though we suspect that once he is conscious enough again he will feel otherwise.
My daughter's dad is bi-polar.  This is a serious mental illness and without proper treatment can lead over time, as I have watched for the past nine years, to just this.  Because of his history of attempts, the state wants to take temporary custody of him and get him some intensive help.  We do hope it is successful.
My daughter is ten and quite the trooper.  I think that she has seen some differences in him recently as when I informed her that her dad was not well mentally and was in the hospital on a machine to help him breathe, she was rather calm.  She doesn't know yet about impending plans for him to go away for awhile.  That part is going to be hard for her.
Mental illness is a serious disease and without proper treatment can lead to grave consequences.  My friend Fadia's sister is also bi-polar and her family is having to deal with the fact that Randa simply walked away from her life.  If you have not yet looked at her pictures, please take the time to follow the link below and look at them.
Please keep my daughter in your prayers, as she is little and I don't want her to go through her life without her dad like my son is.  Thanks much from my heart.
