Take the Palestinians, Please

Take the Palestinians, Please

"This
principle is the propelling force behind the massive settlement
project, the by-pass roads, the expropriation of Palestinian water and
the erection of the separation barrier deep inside Palestinian
territory. And it is precisely these latter Israeli actions that have
precipitated the intensification of violence in the Occupied
Territories and, one might even argue, the rise of Hamas."
If
Neve Gordon had been around in 1967, I would have agreed with this
article. Expropriation of water resources and the erection of a
separation barrier are not neighborly acts. The people who wish to
annihilate us Jews are also unfriendly. They caused us much torment.
The
barrier has offered us some relief and has altered the attitude of our
young people. After army, they go overseas to overcome the 'island
fever' of being surrounded by hostiles. Those of us left behind have
the comfort of free fire zones that define no man's land.
I am
not interested in who did what and when. Negotiations are a one-way
street 60 years of everyone hounding us to make concessions. The only
options given us involve national suicide.
Instead of intensifying violence, the Palestinians might try building a road or a school.
