Thousands Protest Proposed US-Iraq Security Agreement
Robert H Reid, HuffPost

BAGHDAD — Tens of thousands rallied in several cities Friday against a proposed U.S.-Iraqi security agreement, raising doubts that negotiators can meet a July target to finalize a pact to keep U.S. troops in Iraq after the current U.N. mandate expires.
Although U.S. officials insist they are not seeking permanent bases, suspicion runs deep among many Iraqis that the Americans want to keep at least some troops in the country for many years.
"We denounce the government's intentions to sign a long-term agreement with the occupying forces," Asaad al-Nassiri, a sheik loyal to anti-American cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, said during a sermon in Kufa. "Our army will be under their control in this agreement, and this will lead to them having permanent bases in Iraq."

May I remind you that North Korea made a preemptive attack on the South. The US rallied WWII Marine veterans to hold the Pusan perimeter. Over Soviet objections, the UN gathered member nation troops to repel the northern forces.
Alas, the UN's character has deteriorated. It should have rallied member nation troops to repel the American invaders from Iraq.
The Bush reime is in the process of losing two wars they started. They have run the country into the ground.
If you want to learn how our government permits this, please read my latest post Bush in Iraq.

It is a matter of individual perspective as to whether the U.S. is occupying Iraq or protecting it. If you're a Leftist American you won't be able to resist seeing our military as occupiers. The facts are, however, that if we pullout the government will collapse, chaos will follow, thousands (millions?) will be slaughtered and Islamic extremism will rule.
The question for you is can you stiffle your hatred of the U.S. long enough for order to be restored so that Iraqis can live in peace at last? Here's a TIP. Ask a South Korean if they wish the U.S. had abandoned them in 1953 or there-abouts.
