What's New?

Here we are - another New Year has come around, again.
Is it just me or do you feel any different than you did the day before yesterday?
I've spoken to a few of my friends since Saturday night and have learned something.
It isn't only moi that decided to spend a quiet night by the fire watching reruns then going to bed.
Being so comfortable, I didn't even hear the locals shooting off their rifles at the stroke of midnight.
Nope, I roused at 12:28am just long enough to turn off the bedside lamp, plump my pillow, wish myself a Happy New Year and fall back to sleep.
Looking back over the holidays I'm ever so thankful that I didn't have anywhere else to be or go - just home.
Preparing, cleaning, cooking, making sure the house smelled festive, wrapping gifts etc.- that took me about 2 weeks to do.
Then when the special day arrived, all the excitement, kissing and hugging, the flurry of flying wrapping paper, the saving of bows and boxes, oohing and ahhing over presents, cooking of turkey and trimmings, eating (which takes about 15 minutes)- then it's over.
The packing up of house guests is hard for me - jeepers, it seems like they just got here and already their leaving!
Alone in the "after Christmas dust."
So, I start all over again and restore the house to its original state. You'd never know anyone had been here or that any celebration had taken place, save for my tiny brightly lit Christmas tree with no gifts around it.
Baby Jesus and his Family are still standing by the tree.
I like to have Them out at least until the 7th of January - Little Christmas.
Anyway, I'm drifting here . . .
I enjoyed having family and friends all around me this Christmas. It was a little different from most but still wonderful being altogether.
The week before New Year's I spent puttering around the house. My girlfriend and I went out for lunch on the eve of New Year's eve and had a few laughs.
But as far as parties, dinners and company when it was time to flip the page on the new calendar, nahhhh.
I guess I still have a little "after Christmas dust" on me and I'm quite content to have stayed home for New Year's.
Yup, no where else to be or go - just home.
Happiest of New Years!
Party on (gently)! xxx

It was a quiet New Year's Eve for me also. My "party" days are past.

I think most of us "mybloggers-ites" are homebodies. Single and alone. I won't say lonely or lonesome, just alone. For the very reasons you said, I didn't put up one decoration. And the days run together--waiting for Spring.
