Haven't had much of a chance to do any writing the past week or so due to the time of year I guess.
I started my Christmas shopping for gifts weeks ago so I'm alright in that department.
The house cleaning & making up of beds, getting the food lined up, planning the menu and so on has kept me busy for the last week!
I haven't done seasonal baking in years so I've asked my girlfriend, who loves to bake, to make us an apple, peach & cranberry pie (all in one pie - it's wonderful!) & if we're lucky, some of her great squares.
Just when I think I'm done food shopping though, something else comes up. I've been to the supermarket almost every day this week and today I promised myself that this was the LAST day. Already I've thought of something else that I need to make sure the turkey dinner is perfect.
We're celebrating our Christmas on Saturday - dinner in the evening then opening the gifts. Reason being, my daughter and husband have to head back to the city on Sunday to have celebrations with his family.
I think that's fair.
I remember back in the day trying to juggle time with my parents & the in-laws. It all worked out - equal time well spent.
So tomorrow I'm going to prepare the stuffing, the turnip & carrots ahead of time - less work on "the day of."
The kids love those tiny canned peas (yuk!) and I don't like day old mashed potatoes so I'll make them just before dinner.
I'm not a gourmet cook by any means but I do make a mean turkey dinner - and the final touch of the pie and ice cream will be divine.
I wish everyone reading this the happiest and merriest of Christmas times.
And special blessings on us all in the New Year!
Cheers xxx
