Alright, so the gas leak apparently started at about 8:30 this morning. WE Energies was brought to the area. A contractor hit a 3 inch main while doing some work in the area near us. The utilities shut things down right away so that it could be repaired blocking off a couple blocks. The businesses that were in the area, had employees and customers evacuated from there as well just as a percaution.
The firefighters said that it was actually a citizen that said they had smelled the natural gas and I guess it was pretty heavy. I don't think they were out there more than 2 hours at most. No one was hurt.
So now you know what happened.
