Snow showers and freezing weather could hit some parts of the UK next week, the Sky News weather department is warning. Skip related content

As Cornwall mops up after heavy rain and flooding, those in the east will need to break out the de-icer as Scandinavian winds blast Britain with cold air.
Sky News weather forecaster Isobel Lang says there will be an increasing threat of snow from the end of next week, mainly for the north and east of the country, with daytime temperatures not rising much above 4C.
The showers could be heavy as we move into December, bringing a risk of more serious accumulations.
"The models are saying there is definite a trend towards colder and wintry weather," she said.
"The wind will swing in from Scandinavia, bringing with it the threat of snow to eastern parts at the end of next week.
"It's going to be an interesting week of weather."
Long range forecasts point to a cold and snowy start to December, especially in the east, with the chilly weather expected to last until at least the second week of the month.
However, Lang said it was too early to say whether we will see a repeat of last year's record-breaking winter, which saw much of the country covered in snow.
Snow and freezing temperatures in December last year paralysed much of the UK, trapping Eurostar trains in the Channel Tunnel and hitting transport around the country in the run-up to Christmas.
With Ladbrokes offering odds of 5/1 of snow falling in London on Christmas Day, Lang said it might be worth a bet on a white Christmas.
"I would not say no," she added.

So far we just had snow flurries up north. But cold enough to make some snow for the skier buff.No snow yet in the future.Which is fine with me.

Tonight we have an 'almost' full moon - I have just looked though the curtains, it is a nice clear sky ( a bit 'nippy' though) better than rain

So far, snow showers haven't made an appearance in Northwest Ohio. They have cropped up north in Minnesota and northern Michigan, but fizzle out on their way south. But I know they are coming.... Stay warm!

I am going to print out a map of the USA and sellotape it to my desk, then I will know where you and everyone actually are - I am a complete 'div' when it comes to geography

I don't know about you all over there, but we'll be promised some rain or snow (we really need it badly) only to have it peter out when that day arrives, very disappointing.

Randy and I are 1850 miles apart. We've always had water issues out here in the southwest, and worse in recent years, but where Randy lives they have ditches not to bring irrigation water to the crops, but to carry excess water away from the fields. So when they don't get their usual precipitation, they don't have the means for water delivery.

How far away are you from Randy (solitaire)? He has drought problems too. I do so help the pair of you receive the rain you need so much - pretty soon
