Yoga Poses ... Dogs

Stumbled upon this and HAD to share it. Too funny. Enjoy

The dogs that strike yoga poses for a bizarre new yoga calendarBy
Daily Mail Reporter Last updated at 11:33 AM on 26th October 2009

Relax, breathe in and hold it,
stretch and stop that tail from wagging... these bendy pooches show off
their athletic prowess by striking incredible poses for the 2010 Yoga
Dogs calendar. A golden retriever in a warrior posture and a chihuahua chilling out in
the pendant position are the dogs that are featured in the calendar, which will bring a smile to the faces of pet lovers. The tongue-in-cheek calendar hosts a year full of images showing
popular dog breeds positioned in classic yoga postures created using
computer wizardry by Texan couple Dan and Alejandra Borris.

Head over heels: Taz the terrier lies on his shoulders and stretches his hind legs over his head
Athletic: Bobby the poodle balances on his two front legs. The
animals were never in distress, said Dan who got Alejandra, a former
yoga teacher, to hold and coax the dogs into position - and then Photoshop did the rest. 'I had the inspiration for this a few years ago when I was living in Mexico,' said Dan.  'A friend of mine was a yoga practitioner and she had an English bull terrier named Otis. 'She
would say that Otis was always next to her, trying to get involved and
would be licking her face while she was doing a head stand. 'I
thought it would be great if it was Otis who was doing the yoga. The
idea stuck in my head for a couple of years and then I finally got
going on it. 'It has been
a really fun project.'

Strike a pose: Duke, the golden retriever holds firm in the classic
warrior pose (left) while Tiny, the chihuahua chills out in the pendant
position for the 2010 Yoga for Dogs calendar

Paws for thought: Max the mongrel puts his legs together

On all fours: Aries the collie pants and stretches a yoga pose
Dancing dogs: Curtis the black and tan hound and Romeo the long-haired poodle show off some move. Creating up to 26 images for his 2009 and now
2010 calendar, the hilarious collection may have some animal rights
activists up in arms, but Dan is quick to point out that the canine
models were never in distress. 'The
dogs get as close as they can with the yoga moves but some of those
positions in the calendar are anatomically impossible,' said Dan, from
San Antonio, Texas. 'The
Chihuahua with its leg tied in knots is one of them. Rest assured if
they were real images we would have animal rights activists from around
the world knocking on our door. 'There
is no forcing the animal to do anything. We will get the dog in a
general position but each dog that I photograph is well looked after.' Relying on his wife Alejandra's skills with man's best friend, Dan gets
her to hold and coax the dogs into certain positions. 'Alejandra is a former yoga teacher and works with animals for a living,' says Dan. 'She works with the dogs while I am setting up lights and she gets them as close as she can to the poses. 'We
think about the dog and what pose they could do and would they do if it
were possible and what would be interesting and funny. 'In the photo you see my wife is holding them and then she is photo-shopped out.

'Some
of the poses are very simple - like the bull dog doing a handstand.'

I'm all ears: Matisse the basset hound flexes his floppy ears

They do a heck of a lot more than I can--I consider myself lucky just to stand up!

Standing...that pose is called the TREE pose, actually it is excellent if done right.
So you don't need to be bendy, just breathe..relax..smile ahhhh...great day to you!
