What Do You Think?

"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude to me is more important than facts. it is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than whoat other people think, say or do. It is more important than appearance, gift or skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past...The only thing we can do is play on the string we have, and this our attitude.

I am convince that life is ten percent what happens to me and 90 percent how I react to it. And so it is with you...We are in charge of our attitudes."

What Do YOU Think?

by Kate Nowak

What's been on your mind lately? If you're like most, your thoughts have probably been focused on a conglomeration of thoughts arising from the demands of daily living; world concerns harvested from the daily news; your own needs and those of love ones; and the clutter of other things we tend to unconsciously allow to fill our brains.

Trouble is, the thoughts most of us fill our minds with don't really serve us and may, in fact, keep us trapped in an unsatisfying and unfulfilled life. You see, whatever it is you spend your days thinking about, you can be sure you're keeping it in your life. That's because whatever you focus upon intensifies.

The way we think impacts the way we live.

If you dwell on unhappy circumstances, worry over problems and generally keep your thoughts centered on negative conditions, you're only drawing those circumstances, problems and conditions into your life. That's not just some 'woo-woo' teaching swiped from a book on positive thinking, it's a scientific fact.

That's why some people seem to have all the luck and others seem to have no luck at all. Luck is only another name for the law of cause and effect. Those positive thoughts and feelings we plant in the seedbeds of our minds will inevitably bear fruit as will negative thoughts and feelings. There may be a time lapse between the thought and its result, causing us to overlook universal law and credit luck — good or bad — as being the benefactor, but luck has nothing to do with it.

Those who keep their minds focused on moving forward with life and who tend to think things are usually going to work out in their favor, usually have things work out as expected, while those who believe they never catch lucky break rarely do. It's that simple.

The way we think impacts the way we live.

If you want to deliberately create the best possible life for yourself you have to start training your thought processes to work for you instead of against you. You start by monitoring habitual thinking, getting rid of those thoughts that no longer serve you and replacing them with the kind of thoughts that do.

This calls for honest self-examination. You have to first be willing to study your thought patterns and then rid yourself of those keeping you away from the life you desire. It's a lot like removing clutter from a room. You first take an honest look and determine which items in the room are not aesthetically pleasing. Then you make the decision to remove them and keep them removed.

Mental clutter must be removed the same way. You may have any number of habitual thoughts replaying in your mind on a regular basis. Perhaps you've held on to a resentment or grudge that now reminds you not to trust others. Perhaps you think most of the good things you already have or desire are undeserved and tend to preface the introduction of new good into your life with phrases like "I can't believe this is happening to me."

Or maybe you are unaware of how often the two tiny words "I can't" stop you in your tracks and keep you bound to an unhappy and unrewarding life. No matter what it is you want to do, you can. But first you have to think you can. Everything the human mind can conceive and believe can be accomplished. There are no can'ts.

The way we think impacts the way we live.

So, what do you think? What are the thoughts that are impacting your world right now? You might want to stop and examine them. Really examine them. You could be very surprised by what you learn about yourself and the habitual thought patterns currently part of your life.

Remember, you cannot change your life until you change the thinking that created it. That's why it so seldom works when people try to run away from their problems and start over. Their carrying the old baggage of countless habitual thought patterns with them and no matter where they go those old thought patterns will create something very similar to what they've left behind.

The coin has two sides, however. You can take a prosperous man and strip him of all his wealth and within a very short time he will have accumulated more to take its place. Why? Because he has trained his mind to accept wealth and prosperity as a natural state of being. He believes himself to be wealthy and thus attracts wealth into his life. Wealth is not an acquisition for such a man, it is a state of being. And no man can be robbed of being who he inwardly is.

If there is something in your life right now that does not suit you, change your mind about it first. Realize it was your thinking that attracted it to you and until the thinking changes, nothing else will. Then begin focusing on what you do desire instead of what you don't.

And really focus. Focus by directing thought, emotion and energy into getting what you want. And do so daily. Don't just think about it on occasion and then follow the thought with questioning why it hasn't come yet. Nor should you be content to spend a couple of minutes a day thinking about how nice having such and such would be, and then spend the rest of the day concentrating on those things you don't have and worrying over their absence.

Create a mental image in your mind of already possessing what you desire. Make it so clear and distinct that every time you think about it your heart leaps with joy. Let your feelings so intensify your focus that you would rather think about those things you desire and imagine already having them than to think about anything else at all.

Understand that those who live life abundantly do so by acknowledging principles others do not. They understand they have dominion over the world and they take it, by steadfastly controlling the thoughts they allow to take residence in their minds. They do so because the recognize an irrefutable law:

The way we think impacts the way we live.
