When we are born, we are imbued with two bodies--the physical and the spiritual. We feed the physical with food; yet it deteriorates and dies; we feed the spiritual with the food of the story of Christianity. If we do not feed the spiritual, it remains within us nonetheless. The soul never dies; the physical does. When the physical body dies, the spiritual soul leaves and returns to the spirit world or to Heaven, depending on how we have nurtured it. If it is not a saved spirit, it will be in a place called Hades (Not to be confused with the "burning lake of fire" or hell). Hades is a place of moaning, pain, and no rest where the soul will remain until Judgement Day, at which time it will represent the physical body in which it once dwelled. There it will have to give an account of the sins of its physical body; then it will be cast into the burning lake of fire (hell) where it will be in agony for all eternity. The physical body of the damned will not rise from the grave. Christ overcame death only for those who have loved and followed him. Their bodies will rise when Christ calls them from the grave and be instantly transformed into immortal forms reunited with their immortal souls to be always young, free from disease, and in Heaven. It's all in the Bible, just as I have laid it out.
