PALIN REHEARSING VP DEBATE WITH SESAME STREET'S ELMO

NEW YORK -- (Reuters) -- A close friend of Republican Vice-Presidential
candidate Sarah Palin said today Palin was secretly preparing for Thursday's
televised vice-presidential debate with Senator Joseph Biden by rehearsing
with Sesame Street's muppet star Bert.

"She (Palin) phoned me late last night to say the rehearsals in New York
with Bert were going 'exceedingly well'," June DeLuca, a close friend, told
a Juneau, Alaska, radio talk-show host during a phone interview.

"She said she beat the 'fur off' Bert and that even Ernie was impressed,"
Deluca said. "Kermit the Frog was moderating the debate, and the Cookie
Monster, Big Bird, Miss Piggy, Grover, Ernie, Count von Count, and Oscar the
Grouch were among those in attendance at the mock debate sessions.

"She was pretty hot, sharp as a whip, and as fast as my fly-catching
tongue," Kermit said.

Miss Piggy complimented Palin on her "tough girl persona" and said she was
romantically attracted to Palin after watching her debate.

"I will admit she really turned me on, " Miss Piggy said. "I'm going to do
my hair like her's and wear a pair of glasses just like her's."

The Cookie Monster reportedly asked Palin for some of her home-made Moose
Cookies, but Palin said she was very sorry she had eaten them all.
