Greetings Friends,
Since tax time is here, and you'll be going through your file box and important papers, you might want to also set your affairs in order.
What I'm learning from the passing of my downstairs neighbor I'll pass along here.
If you have a will and an executor for your estate, have a back up or secondary executor.
She didn't and her executor has been out of town since her passing away Sat. before Easter.
So even though her friend dropped off her phone book, I guess the secretary couldn't make any calls to family, etc.
So the body is a the funeral home, she's to be cremated,
but they can't do anything till the executor says so.
Her cousin out of town didn't get a call from the other cousin, one of her friends called, so don't think the word will get around via family and friends.
That cousin called the police and 3 cars showed up this morning to check on the woman.
Also if you do not want heroic measures, fill out proper paper work and file it with the hospital.
She had the paper from the hospital one sheet,
but didn't fill it out.
And all the post a notes she had around the house about no heroic measures, were of no value because 911 once called has to do the do.
So this means hospital ER, then room, then finding the person who can legally tell the hospital not to do heroic measures.
She thought she had everything in order, but if the person in charge of your estate is out of town, everything stops till they return.
Unfortunate for family and friends, to not know and those that do, to have to wait.
Now the wait is for the death certificate.....
The best health to you,
