Here's some more news about their pets in Japan.

The two dogs whose
video went viral after a news crew filmed one of the dogs faithfully
standing guard over his exhausted pal after they survived the disaster
in Japan - have been rescued.

According to CNN an animal lover and rescuer named Kenn Sakurai travelled with other
rescuers by motorcycle to the area and both dogs were saved.

The injured white dog was taken to a veterinary hospital and his faithful companion is at a No-Kill shelter.

Kenn Sakurai who
owns Butch Japan, Inc. a dog food importing company has been working
round the clock distributing food to abandoned dogs at animal shelters
and dogs being housed with their owners at evacuation shelters.

Reports on Facebook also say that since the earthquake and tsunami Sakurai has rescued 150 dogs and found 100 dead.

Sadly some on Facebook are criticizing his fundraising efforts to help animals because he owns a for profit company.

Sakurai is disheartened by these accusations and is offering to return money donated.

Japan Earthquake Animal Rescue and Support is
coordinating the efforts to save abandoned animals. They give almost
hourly updates on the conditions in Japan. The group warned that the
two dogs in the video are just the tip of the iceberg and that there are
thousands of animals still trying to survive on their own.

Their goal is to reunite pets with their owners.

The group is also
trying to dispel rumors that are circulating about abandoned animals.
One report said pets turned into shelters are given 72 hours to be
reunited with their owners before being euthanized. And another rumor
said the animals are being gassed.

JEARS said neither of these accusations is true.

On a good note the
group reported the feral cats on Cat Island which is off the coast of
Fukushima have survived. JEARS is trying to get food and supplies to
them.

More updates on the animal rescue efforts to save the animals in Japan will be coming in the future.

I am so glad to hear this, Ana. It broke my heart thinking they might not be rescued. So many need help.
Also FYI: All my Blogster blog subscriptions e-mail post notifications stopped arriving some days ago, apparently, without my knowing, and I just discovered that I am now days behind when I check my notification log. I haven't received any of the post notices on the log's first page, which goes back three days. I depend on the e-mail blog post notices and am lost without them. Yikes! I am soooo far behind now.... Hoping Blogster fixes the problem soon. Sorry if I've missed any of your posts.

'Sadly some on Facebook are criticizing his fundraising efforts to help animals because he owns a for profit company.' I wonder how much they have raised--the ones being critical!!!

I know I went and saw it again, I had seen it on the News first, it's worth seeing several times. Talk about loyalty of a dog.
