2/28/11'tooth Fairy Day' Quotes/proverbs/and More

Move over Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, because the real Tooth Fairy is
back in town, and on this 'Tooth Fairy Day' she's looking to reclaim her
wand, her tutu and her crown! Whether or not you've lost a tooth, think
about the generous and benevolent Tooth Fairy today. This year I
started having dreams dealing with my teeth, or, mostly, lack of them. I
had never had these dreams before but I've learned that the dream where
I lose almost all of my teeth is fairly common. I've only had that
dream a few times, but it really gives me something to chew on. Mostly I
dream that one of my teeth falls out and then they all start falling
out my mouth like Chiclets. So after calling in the big guns (teachers
and master shamans), I have found out that many people have this dream,
and that it generally means that there is some big fear or anxiety in
regards to the future. If you've this dream, Feng Shui advises that as
soon as you awake you should cut a small piece of your hair and flush it
down the toilet so it can cast all of your fears down the drain. Of
course, I have readers from other cultures who share that this
particular dream portends that someone you know is about to die.
Although I've had this dream, no one has once ever died in them, so I'm
sticking with the Feng Shui suggestion. Honestly, I don't think the
Tooth Fairy can help here, but she's invited to leave as much money for
those dream teeth as she sees fit. While she's doing that while I will
be flushing a snippet of blond down the drain because, as long in the
tooth as I might be, I'm still not taking any chances!

In early Europe, it was a tradition to bury baby teeth that fell out. The tradition is still very much alive and well in Ireland and Great Britain,
where it is common for young children to believe in the Tooth Fairy.
When a child's sixth tooth falls out, it is customary for the tooth
fairy to slip a gift or money under the child's pillow, but to leave the
tooth as a reward for the child growing strong.
Rosemary Wells, a former professor at the Northwestern University Dental School,
found evidence that supports the origin of different tooth fairies in
the United States around 1900. Folklorist Tad Tuleja suggests postwar
affluence, a child-directed family culture, and media turned the myth
into a custom.
The tooth fairy is less common in African cultures
Dr. Wells created a Tooth Fairy Museum in 1993 in her home in Deerfield,
Illinois. The Tooth Fairy Museum remained open approximately 17 years
and had many visitors a year. It closed and the collection was disbursed
after her death in 2000
I believe in everything until it's disproved. So I believe in
fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it's in
your mind. Who's to say that dreams and nightmares aren't as
real as the here and now.
John Lennon
Life itself is the most wonderful fairy tale.
Hans Christian Andersen

The old fairy tales are very, very violent, and these days I
think we could do with a little less of it.
Julie Andrews

Take a sprinkling of fairy dust,
An angel's single feather,
Also a dash of love and care,
Then mix them both together.
Add a sentiment or two,
A thoughtful wish or line,
A touch of stardust, a sunshine ray...
It's a recipe, for a Baby Girl truly fine.

If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy
tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more
fairy tales.
Albert Einstein

The tooth fairy teaches children that they can sell body parts
for money.
David Richerby
Years ago, fairy tales all began with Once upon a time... now
we know they all begin with, If I am elected.
Carolyn Warner
If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder without
any such gift from the fairies, he needs the companionship of
at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him
the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in.
Rachel Carson
A scientist in his laboratory is not a mere technician: he is
also a child confronting natural phenomena that impress him
as though they were fairy tales.
Marie Curie
