Money as Debt

Paul Grignon's 47-minute animated presentation of "Money as Debt" tells in very simple and effective graphic terms what money is and how it is being created. It is an entertaining way to get the message out. The Cowichan Citizens Coalition and its "Duncan Initiative" received high praise from those who previewed it. I recommend it as a painless but hard-hitting educational tool and encourage the widest distribution and use by all groups concerned with the present unsustainable monetary system in Canada and the United States.

Because of my continuous, curious nature and my constant questioning of things, my father first explained to me the beginning of paper money (and used "The Goldsmiths" version as used in this video) when I was about 9 years old. I have always known that money isn't "real" and, for me, when I see the way so many are about money and how we accept it so readily, I feel as if I am watching a society of people play with fake money similar to the way a couple of children would if playing house and using Monopoly money as their currency.

Watch the video, and if you do not have time to watch the full thing, at least watch the first 5 minutes of it. -Laura

I too have always known that our currency is like "paper money." The danger in that is that the government can just keep printing it with no regard to the fact that we do not have enough gold (which is what our currency is supposed to be backed up with) to even begin to cover the amount of money that is out there. Talk about a recipe for disaster.
