Legendary college basketball coach Bob Knight has resigned from his position as head coach of the Texas Tech University men's team effective immediately. His son Pat, who has been Knight's assistant at TTU, will be interim head coach.
According to reports, Knight told TTU athletic director Gerald Myers he was tired of coaching.
Knight has been a polarizing and controversial coach. He was fired from his job at Indiana following physical confrontations with players. His judgment has also been questioned at TTU following more physical contact with players. Knight was also accused of shooting at or near people during multiple trips last hunting season.
Knight's teams have won a combined 902 games during his career, making him the winningest NCAA men's coach of all time. He's 64 wins shy of the wins mark held by former Tennessee women's coach Pat Summitt.
