"Picking up an hour after the events of 2006's Casino Royale, this James Bond adventure finds 007 (Daniel Craig) tracking a traitor who's infiltrated Britain's MI6. The trail leads to Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), the charismatic head of a world environmental agency. Behind this seemingly legitimate facade, Greene runs Quantum, a powerful terrorist organization whose plot to overthrow a Bolivian dictator masks an even more sinister plan."
I haven't seen a James Bond movie in I don't know how long, but if I tell you that I never saw Pierce Brosnan play Bond, I think you'll get the idea. We saw this new one Quantum of Solace in a recent movie marathon weekend staying at a Las Vegas Strip hotel, and I really enjoyed it.
Vintage Bond: his bosses want him to check in and he evades them, almost continual chase and fight scenes, a sexy woman or two, etc. I like the new actor portraying Bond - he's just right.
Now that the Cold War is over, it is interesting to see what the issues are, and the current trend is enviro crime. The resolution on our screen wasn't good enough to see in the credits where this was filmed, but if was filmed in Bolivia (the supposed setting) let me say that I'm surprised at how much desert there might be in Bolivia. Maybe it was filmed in Qatar or Kuwait. Anyhoo, it was very dry there because the villain had sequestered all the water so he could sell it back to the government.
I enjoyed this movie about 100 times more than The Dark Knight - latest Batman movie because although both are violent this one is not overly cruel and mean-spirited like the Batman one. Plus it has the R rating unlike the PG-13 on Dark Knight, which is more appropriate for so much violence.
