Okay

I wrote a post a couple of days ago about our late-night drive to Las Vegas to find Buddy the Cat in good shape and glad to see us, but hit a wrong key and it disappeared.

Buddy appears to be feeling good and is playful and purring. He lost a lot of weight and his fur is dull and matted so we have some catching up to do. We're going to take him back to the vet either tomorrow or next week to see if he still needs a tooth pulled for $800.

I just now took this - we need to get one of those head funnels because sometimes he scratches at the sore spot.

From the front he looks good. He's listening to Spike Jones and The City Slickers - the band from the 1940s with all the funny sound effects.

I thought we were going to work all day on closing our place up and get an early start for Las Vegas the next day, but the chores only took a couple of hours, and Mr. Troutbend decided we could drive all night, so that's what we did. We stopped in Denver to say hello to Mammy and Pappy Troutbend (The Munchkins) then took on out, passing through Cedar City, Utah at 11:10 pm, and turning into our street at 2 am. The last hour driving into Las Vegas is the longest, even at night when you can't see how boring the scenery is.

The only problem with throwing everything in the car and leaving on such short notice was we forgot a pile of items set out to bring, and I am gradually figuring out what was in that pile and trying to decide how to live without it. I've started a list of things I am missing and at some point will decide 6 months is too long to wait, and/or it's too expensive to go buy a replacement here, and/or the items are too fragile to have someone mail to me, so I might fly home to get them early next year. Some other excuses might come up to make it even more important.

But anyhow, here I am. On sloooowwww dialup. On a PC that has that quirk where replying to comments takes several tries with sloooowwww screen refreshes in between, so if you don't get the usual feedback from me, that's why. I am trying to figure out if I should get DSL, but I hired a security person for our place in Colorado so the money I could have spent on cable TV or DSL here has now been spent there.
