My vegetable seedlings are growing quickly, the zucchini squash at least an inch a day. We already had to make some bigger pots for them out of cut off milk jugs. This involved driving around looking for potting soil. First we went to the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market. I don't know if you have them in your town, but they are grocery stores with a little touch of warehouse look located on smaller footprints than the usual Wal-Mart. And they apparently don't run to stocking potting soil.
So next we went to the 99 cent store. It's really the 99.99 cent store ($.9999). I think they added the extra decimal places recently and the only way we were aware of them was announcements, like the old K-Mart Blue Light Special announcements telling us some particular item is 'only ninety-nine point nine-nine cents.' No potting soil, and no dishwasher detergent, either. But they had garden seeds for 9 for 99 cents, so I bought some more to go with the ones I already have. I spent a long time finding a non-dented can of whole beets, got it home and it was French cut green beans, which I didn't need, but like Mr. Troutbend said, at least the can wasn't dented.
I have been watching that TV show Lost via Netflix Instant View. There are 25 episodes in the first season, and many more to go in the subsequent seasons. In case you don't know what it's about - people on a desert island after a plane crash with an element of unknown "Others" who don't wish them well and some science fiction aspects yet to be revealed to me. This seems to be a better way to watch it: no commercials, and no waiting a week for the next episode. After 26 hours of it (not continuous), some of the acting is starting to grate on my nerves, and some of characters are just tedious to watch - too much drama, getting past what I am going to sit there and put up with. I'm only 1/3 of the way through Season Two out of 6 or 7 of them, and it's possible at some point I am going to not care what happens to any of these people and give up on it entirely. But at least I'll have an idea what the show is about.
You all have a good rest of the weekend.
