Burying Tom

My cousin's daughter (that makes her my second cousin) wants to make a 3 hour detour on the way from Salt Lake City to Chicago to help me have a little ceremony at Greenlawn to bury my dad's ashes where his headstone is. Right now they are on a shelf in the garage in a box wrapped in plain brown paper.

I'm debating about it because it is so rare that we get to see our cousins and will be meeting their children for the first time, I don't particularly want to waste it at the cemetery. I'd rather use the time to have a nice barbecue lunch here in the beautiful mountains at the cabin that has been in the family since 1912 and get to know them better. Here she is at her wedding with her dad - they are both over six feet tall; she and her sisters look like Romanian princesses. She has a PhD in biblical Hebrew from the Catholic point of view.

I know her husband will be in a hurry to get back onto Interstate 80 towards Chicago, and she probably had to use this burial idea to talk him into even considering this side trip, but I can have my own burial any time and invite people who knew my dad a lot better if I think we need an audience.
