I've tried watching some of the foreign Netflix offerings in the murder mystery genre, but it's irritating when they are dubbed with English. Sometimes the people reading the parts in English aren't very good actors, so it comes off as wooden.
I'd like to change my profile picture, but am worried that if I try I'll lose it entirely and have no way to get it back. I think whatever we have now is all we're going to get with no way to do updates.
I'm marveling at that neon sign. And thinking about how much effort I put into getting some pathetic plants to grow, none of this Jack and Beanstalk business where seeds tossed out in the yard become pumpkins and tomatoes.
When I saw the title of this article, I thought it was going to be about some new Netflix offering. I subscribe to an email list serve about tropical storms in the Atlantic just to keep track of what's going on there in Fort Lauderdale. Haven't been reading them lately - I'll start paying more attention.
Thanks for the update and the pictures. It's nice to see your church, and good luck with the AC repair project. Sounds like it's been especially hot there in the OKC area this summer.
I admire that you're taking on a new language.
It sounds like you left Jose at the garage sale as collateral that you'd return with payment - good plan!
I look at the big appliances in my house and tell them they only have to last until I die, then I don't care what they do. I think the house is built around the giant chest freezer and walls will have to be removed if it ever needs to be replaced. It was new in 1985.
Thanks, Martin. your reviews always give me just the information I need.
There's times in our lives when we figure we've seen it all and done what we had in mind for our lives, but then it's Oh Wait! There's more! And there is so much more.
I always enjoy your restaurant reviews. Did you scare people with that bad eye?
I hope it gets better quickly.
Scary-looking in a pirate sort of way.
It's scary looking.
5% of my thoughts about Florida have been about you - the general daily 'Great Martin' this or that, lately thinking about how the weather might affect you. This is the latest stream of consciousness: "Martin...Allen's car...hurricane...4 or 5 story buildings...carrot cake." The other 95% of my recent thoughts about Florida have been about that condo collapse (and yes, it ran through my mind: "I'm glad Martin doesn't live in a taller building"). We were watching Manifest on Netflix after several days' break from it and my first thought was that it's hard for a fictional situation to compete with that true-life drama. I still have my copy of John D. MacDonald's "Condominium" and I'm going to see if I feel like re-reading the whole thing.
Are those iguanas native to your area, or escaped/released pets?
