The Forgotten Man

John McCain is going to submit to an interview with O'Reilly tonight. It's about time someone paid him a little attention. Unfortunately I doubt that any significant questions will be asked; I mean the kind that might actually inform The People. Questions like:

What is your understanding of the meaning of the term "New World Order" and do you intend to carry forward its agenda?

Do you have any idea of the scale of the murder and mayhem that is being carried out on our nation's southern border?

What have you done to protect the southern border of the state that you were elected to represent in the senate?

Do you have any reservations at all about the reality of global warming?

These few would be good enough for starters. I know it would be easy to pander on a couple of these questions but the first one is iron clad. George H. W. used the term "New World Order" 16 years ago and others have used it since but no one in the entire media spectrum has ever made the effort to find out what it truly means. If John doesn't have the answer I can't vote for him. If he tries to fudge the truth it will be obvious.

I'm fully aware that Obama is a disaster waiting to happen. I am not deceived in the least about what his intentions are for my country and I will not vote for him. I feel certain that all rational conservatives agree on that. And I think John understands it, too. It should also be obvious to John that he has zero chance of winning this election without the support of conservatives. And that's a good thing because conservatives are easy to please. All we want is:

- Honesty. Don't pander to us. We are not drooling idiots who grope about bumping into one another mumbling one word mantras like 'change' or 'hope'. Tell the truth and be assured that we will know the difference.

That's really about it. Gives us the respect of being treated like adults. We know the straight talk express has gone off the rails a time or two. Truth is viewed as a dangerous thing in politics - it's a virtual walk through a mine field. We're not above forgiving minor infractions. But you've got to understand that every time you do it you've betrayed the promise of 'straight talk' - and look around you. How many Republicans are gone now because they thought their constituents were stupid - they thought their constituents were no different than Democrats.

I said I wouldn't vote for Obama. But I don't have to vote for anyone.

Yes it's awful. On the other hand, the good news is that the electoral college won't let Nader win.

I don't think anyone is happy with the choices we have this time around. And being from Illinois I know you probably have better insight into Obama than the rest of us. Whereabouts on here has warned me several times "don't be fooled by Obama, he's no different than the rest" but to me, with the only other options being Clinton (no thank you...) or McSame, I don't feel I have many options. Not voting don't work for me, I feel I have to at least participate in some way. And of course, with the system set up as it is, the electoral college wouldn't allow an independent such as Nader or any else to win...
