No One Will Replace Him
He is my dad's baby brother. I have been close to him all my life. He's my cousin's dad who is more like my brother than even my own brothers most of the time. He always had a way of making me laugh. He made me smile even when he was in a hospital room hooked up to an IV. He's always had the ability to make me laugh and laughter was a part of his life every day of his life. He became a grandfather to my boys and a dad to me. I walked with him through the loss of my aunt and then through so much more. He shall be missed every day of my life. He has hours to live but somehow, after seeing him, I knew he was not really there right now, or maybe he was -- standing there outside of himself-- watching. I'm sure he'd have a big smile on his face thinking he has had the final laugh after all.
