You Know You Live in Florida When ...

You wake up because something is on your ear...it's a palmetto bug. UGH!!!!

For those of you who don't know, the palmetto is like a rather large roach on steroids. They make noise, they litterally spit at you when you try to kill them and worse than they they grow to 1and 1/2 inches long and can fly. They also are referred to as the Florida Woods Cockroach which seems to inhabit many southern states. If you are up north, you have something similar in a waterbug. Both are equally repulsive, but it seems that the palmetto does frequent states with palm trees. UGH. That was on my ear last night!

By the way, they can totally flatten their bodies and and slide under almost any door and we have new sliding glass doors.

Anyway, how did you sleep? LOL

I can't say that I left Fla b/c of palmetto bugs, but I sure don't miss them. We had an exterminator do our house every month and they still showed up.

I love palmetto bugs especially when you step on them unaware and it sounds like a firecracker going pop!
