In the past two months, I've been attacked by the dreaded Acid Reflux which is another name for the backing up of stomach acid into the esophagus which is extremely uncomfortable. Heartburn, regurgitation, and dyspepsia are a few of the most common acid reflux symptoms. Yummy! Don't we enjoy those wonderful moments when you get that intense burning sensation and sometimes wonder if you are having a heart attack.
Well after extensive research (on the net of course) I found that there are some great cures or remedies for this and I started taking them. Having high blood pressure which is being watched under a doctor's care, I've found that many over the counter medicines will raise my blood pressure even further, which is not a good thing. These rememdies I found online in several good websites are easy, cheap and really really help.
No. 1 - Apple Cider Vinegar -- Okay, it sounds odd and sort of gross, but this stuff works. Buy the organic kind that has all the stuff floating in it, it's better. One tablespoon in a cup of water and drink it fast. Oh have a chaser of something that will kill the taste by the way. Somehow, this will give you instant relief. I put a little honey in mine so that it kills some of the nasty flavor, but this is amazing and you can drink it any time you feel that feeling of acid reflux.
No. 2 - Eating apples reduces the amount of acid in your stomach naturally. I keep an apple with me for lunch every day now and it has greatly reduced my acid reflux symptoms.
No. 3 - Licorise but not the kind you eat -- sorry! Licorise can be bought in capsule form at a health food store or a vitamin shop. I bought it at GNC yesterday for $7 a bottle. I take one in the morning and one and night and the effect is amazing. This stuff has an amino acid in it and it's for digestive health. In two days it has made a difference.
Now foods to avoid...alcohol in excess, citrus, garlic, mybloggers food (fried), too spicy food, etc.
also, I found out that milk can actually cause stomach acid! That really surprised the heck out of me.
Personally, I promise that all the above are inexpensive and actually work if you use them consistently. The point is to make yourself as comfortable as possible till your esophagus has a chance to heal. Anyway, thought I'd share. Seems like so many people have this discomfort lately. Later.
