Oil: 100 Dollars a Barrel?

I'm not sure what this means short or long term at the pumps, but I don't like it. For the fist time ever, oil has broken 100 dollars a barrel. Speculation are comments from OPEC saying they will not increase production or may even reduce to along with the refinery explosion in Texas, and finally continued concerns with the dependability of oil from Nigeria.

Well whatever it is, I don't want to see 4 bucks a gallon soon!

Never look at the Tuesday following a holiday weekend for market guidance, unless there's legitimate "big" news. An explosion at a small refinery is grounds for knee jerk reactions in futures markets but it's not big news. OPEC historically scales down production in March, so that's not really big news. Some investors panic no matter what happens. That can be big news in itself, especially when it results in higher futures prices.

I heard about this today, glad I filled up on Sunday. I've always just "gotten gasoline when I wanted it" but now I am taking a look at it much more closely.

So long as oil remains this high the financial impetus for alternative energy development increases. I saw on the news that the first new nuclear plant since 1984 is now being constructed! Windmills are popping up like weeds. Some day the Saudis will beg us to buy their ####### crude!

looks like that little butt kissing expedition Dubya made to Saudi Arabia a few months ago was all for naught. God, I was sooo embarrassed by our president brown nosing the Saudi royal family like that. More than I usually am by his lack of cerebral fortitude. Fact: A number of the identified 9-11 hijackers were Saudi citizens. Jees, where are that man's priorities. Pro'ly up his ass keeping his head company.
