This Race Goes to 11 - Powell Helps with Indies
Washington Post - EXCERPT:

Barack Obama is up 11 points on John McCain among likely voters in the new Washington Post-ABC News tracking poll, 54 to 43 percent. Though little changed from yesterday, Obama's national lead is now his biggest of the campaign in Post-ABC polling.

Former secretary of state Colin Powell's endorsement provides a new boost for Obama, who has made significant progress with voters as a leader in international affairs. But Obama also continues to be lifted by more fundamental advantages, including a 2 to 1 advantage on "helping the middle-class."

Overload!! (Both your posts and the news media) I'm now on 'cruise control". Voted and sitting back waiting for the results to hopefully become official. Like Indiana itself, my family is split: 2 Obama, 2 McCain. Even my twin sisters are split.

Another point but related...
My bank (National City) is being acquired by Pittsburgh's PNC Bank. National City is/was Cleveland's largest but squandered billions in their losses from sub-prime mortgages, while PNC did not do the risky business. If the old regulations had remained in place, none of this would have happened.

Well Annie, I agree, anything can still happen. As for Truman, Bush recently tied him for the lowest ratings ever in modern history for a sitting president. And part of the reason was Truman's firing of Gen. McArthur who was waging his own foriegn policy and almost brought the U.S. into a major war with China. He did the right thing, but yet he paid the price?
And it is interesting that you mention celebration. This is the first time my family is almost universally all voting for the same candidate...incredibly rare, so yes I did say that we plan a celebration if the right thing happens on November 4th. Again we'll see...

I am certainly not over confident. I live in hope.

Don't throw your victory party yet. I was born in 1948 when the biggest election upset took place with Truman defeating Dewey. I wonder if there was voter fraud involved.... Truman was a Democrat. Just joking.... Truman reminded me of my Dad... an honest man. Sadly, he spent most of his White House years living there alone. Bess didn't like Washington, so she stayed at home.
