I have a lot of things that I need to do today, so this is just a quick update. I will be going with Jim as soon as they call with an appointment time over to the OU Health Sciences Center for his PET scan and to visit with Social Services about getting his treatments through that location. Â
We have decided that is the way for him to go, given his current financial situation. Â He has also just about decided to move in with one of his sons, which is a relief for me as well.
On another note: Â Have you ever known a woman or man who died his hair black to cover the grey? Women who have naturally dark hair sometimes do this. My hair was quite dark when I was young. I now use a light brown color on it. If I put a dark brown or black on it, it would look harsh and age me.
The best thing to do is to lighten--not darken--one's hair when a person dyes it. Â I recently saw a picture of an old friend over on Facebook who now has his hair black. (Couldn't tell if he was wearing a toupee or if it was his hair--could have been a toupee, however).
For him, it is totally wrong, because he is a natural blond and has fair skin. Â It made him look ten years older because it draws the eye straight to the face and every line and wrinkle just jumps out.
He would look so much better if he would go to a good hairdresser, get that atrocious black stripped off; then put a toner on that would imitate his natural hair color. Â He could even have a little grey added around the temples to give his hair a more natural look for a man his age if he wanted to.
Also, he was wearing wire-rimmed glasses that do nothing for him. They further pull the eye in. Â A set of horn rims like Jim Carrey wears would be much more flattering for his face shape and skin coloring. It would give contrast that he is now trying to get with the black hair and would pull the eye outward rather than inward.
He probably won't do either; but, if he does happen to read this, he may remember that I am the daughter of a hairdresser, and I do have good taste. Â I know what works for people and what doesn't.
Hope he takes the advice. Â I think he would be amazed at the results.
