My favorite sport is almost upon us.   Football !!!  Time was when we would be getting very close to the end of baseball season with the World Series between the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Yankees.  Those are the only two teams I can remember playing the Series back when I watched it with my dad and brothers.

That was before division playoffs and what other playoffs the money-hungry owners have managed to negotiate to extend baseball into football season.

Baseball may be America's favorite pasttime but football is America's passion!  Of course for those of us who do not have a pro team, our loyalties are to our major college teams...everyone who knows me has not the slightest doubt who my FAVORITE team is.

Speaking of my favorite team, they will open their season in less than a month inaugurating the new Texas Stadium, playing their first game there against BYU. 

This is nothing against BYU but I think it might have been a more thrilling game if the opponent had been a ranked team from last season.  The stadium will be packed, though.  Many will attend just to see the new home of the Dallas Cowboys.   Arlington, A Dallas suburb, is only three hours away, not to mention the fact that the DFW metro is packed with OU grads.

A year or so ago, probably when we were still on Blogster, everyone was taking pictures of their computer area to post.  Let it never be said that I don't eventually get around to showing mine!!   Some days when I read all the misinformation from the bloviators on Blogster, this is exactly how I feel too!!

I need some help from my horticulture friends.  Is this a crepe myrtle tree or bush.  This one is in the back yard just off our patio.  We have two more like it that anchor our shrubery in the front yard.  My daughter says its a bush; I think it's a tree.  What are your thoughts?

By the way, here's my actual computer desk.  I was kidding a little with you above.  There's my coffee cup and my Bible.  I always have those two handy.  That book lying closed to the left is my Bible reference that I use all the time as well.  The book to the right is the novel I am currently reading--The Laws of Our Fathers by Scott Turow.

The picture on my desk is of Holly and me on her wedding day.  The pictures above are of my grandchildren.  Then I've got my music close by.  All the comforts one needs at my fingertips.
