Well, we had some more education with a meeting with an Assistant Superintendent at Twin Rivers Unified School District. Sadly, she probably learned much more than we did.

It is always interesting to see how "systems" operate. In this case the district had 3 public summits for the ostensible purpose of getting a feel of desired direction from the public served.

Our concern came as a result of a "report" to the board which did not include several of the suggestions we had made in the grouping area where we had been assigned.

It does create consternation when one is asked for input, give it and then said input is not a part of the report to the board.

The official explanation was that the suggestions were categorized for the board and only those which appeared most frequently were published in the report. As a result, "someone" got to pick and choose which suggestions would be presented and which would not.

We pointed out to her that our concerns dealt with State law and that the average participant was probably unaware of the legal ramifications of some of the actions.

The Assistant Superintendent assured us that our concerns would be added to the report and a listing of all recorded remarks would be compiled and sent to the board.

We are still shaking our heads over the experience, but are pleased that at least we shall be heard.
