Kudos to Cal
Cal Thomas today, has some things at least half right. Quoting Jeb Bush, past governor of Florida: "The republican party needs to stand for reform, within the context of the ideology of limited government." Yes, right on bro. But it is just too bad that the entire republican party completely forgot its own ideology during the past seven years. Why of course they lost numerical control of the house and senate. How and why? By trying to be non-partisan and cooperative with their sworn avowed enemies across the aisle; much like bending over and grabbing the ankles, saying thank you, and doing it over again! In Wash. D.C. mainstream media talk, the term moderate only refers to any republican who denounces their own party's platform, ideas, and/or ideals, and who then embraces the democrat programs. My idea of a moderate is democrats like Joe Liebermann or Zel Miller. The most poignant point with which I agree, is the head in the sand conservatism so blatantly destroying the democrat party. The Dem-Libs, for 30 years or more, have adamantly refused to embrace any form of change or reform. Just keep throwing more and more money down the rat-hole of failed and unworkable and unaccountable give=away programs. But, one must remember the real honest and true reason behind 99% of these Dem-Lib initiated programs. No, it is not to help the poor and needy and helpless; it is to provide access for greedy, money-grubbing political party hacks, to large amounts of federal and state revenues, creating hundreds of thousands of elite bureaucrats with fiduciary allegiance to the democrat party.

I agree with you one hundred percent when you state your opposition to huge, give-away programs that lower standard, drain the national coffers, and take-away the dignity and incentive of the very ones they are supposed to be helping.
However, I also know many hard-working, good souls who could sure use a hand.
