Coney Island, Brooklyn South Patrol Division...The Six-0...
Home of Nathans, Coney Dogs, Americas Oldest Wooden roller coaster, Parachute Jumper rides( Used in WW II to train Paratroopers...at least that is what the locals say)
Neighbor to Brighton Beach, and Home to one of the cities most dangerous housing project....The stillwell Ave projects.
A great place to avoid. It was amazing what would be thrown off the roof tops...TV's, bricks, once a child of a rival drug dealer....that was enough for me..time to move on.
I remember a housing cop who was in the best shape ever...I think he stood 7 ft tall, he was a Giant! He would walk verticles all tour long, and as he cleaned out the stairwells he would walk the trash to PSA-1 in a single line and lock them up, Iwas never sure why they never ran...lol
ahhhh back to the summers at Coney Island ....every year there would be at least one body washed up....sometimes fresh others, well the eels and other creepy crawler fish would do their number on the floater....It always seemed wise to wait for EMS or the morgue van to roll and remove.....but alas there was always the crumby job of roll and canvas....
Of course the live rescues were always the best, the local natives would unleash because of the slowness of the bus(EMS) and try to roll it once it arrived....brainless minds
Well onto the good points chili dogs and Ice Cold Beer, after tour of course
The air shows, the all year flea market, those vendors knew more about the neighborhood going ons than god! If we needed an answer, that was the place to starte
The smell of the salty air
Locking up the prostitutes, and yes many were he/she's
Mounted patrol was always a great help every summer when it came to hats and bats to break up whatever street battle would break out in the heat.....
I remember my partners on 4x12 tour....the war tour...Loretta, Pretty boy Flloyd....what a great time
