The Mysterious Vampire Prince

I’m so happy! My friend from America just came back to Indonesia. She came back on October near halloween. Elena, my friend wanted to make a halloween party at her house. A big mansion on the mountains. Perfect for a spooky halloween. I have never went to a halloween party before, and it does sound interesting! So, in excitement I try to find the right costume for the party. The dress code was scary ‘scary, but not too scary’. I finally decided to wear a vampire outfit. A red gown with a black silky cloak. Don’t forget the red high-heels and…false vampire fangs. Now, I’m really ready for the party!

The night on Elena’s mansion adds the mysterious atmosphere Elena had prepared for us. Jack-o-lanterns here and there, spider webs plus the false spiders, and a big frankenstein doll near the entrance door, oh, and the spooky music played giving goose bumps! A lot of people came wearing their own unique costumes. There are people wearing a kuntilanak costume, witch costume, mummy costume…suddenly I felt a light tap on my shoulder, I turned around and…aaarghh!!! Medusa is standing right in front of me. Gosh, it was Elena with her medusa costume.
“Were you frightened?”
“Of course! I nearly jumped out of my skin. Where did you find such a beautiful costume?”
“I bought it at America. Hey, why don’t you find something to eat? I have to go and find my ‘special guest’”
And with a wink, Elena disappeared from my sight. I smiled, hearing that Elena had to find her ‘special guest’. Must be a guy, I thought. Happily I walked to the table where the food is. That’s when I looked up to the second floor and saw this guy looking below to the guests. His eyes are so cold and lonely. An idea came to me that is to try and get him into a conversation. I walked to the stairs leading to the second floor.

Upstairs, I found the guy, still looking below to the guests.
I patted him lightly on his shoulders and said, “Hey, what are you doing here alone?” And when he turned around, I knew I fell in love with him at first sight. He smiled and said, “Well, I don’t really like parties you see.” “Oh well, why don’t we just talk. Better than you being alone here.” “Hey thanks. By the way, are you wearing a vampire costume? I’m being a vampire too!”
And I just realized that he was using a tuxedo and a silky black cloak just like mine. Our conversation went on and on. Very close and warm, and we just knew each other like a few hours ago! The big antique clock chimed eleven times. It was already eleven o’clock.
“Hey, I have to go”, he said hurriedly
“Oh, why so fast?”
“There’s no one home. And it’s really too late now. so I have to go”
“Well, ok then. But before you go, may I know your name?”
“Andrew. My name’s Andrew”
“Oh, my name is…”
Before I could answer he said, “Nanda. I know.” With those last words, he turned and walked to the stairway, leaving me alone with a question in my head : How does he know my name? I haven’t told him.
Not long after, the party ended. I found Elena near the entrance door.
“Hey Elena, guess what, I talked to this guy. He was so nice and not to mention so cute. I fell in love with him!”
“Oh really? Tell me his name.”
“Andrew!”
Elena turned pale. She tugged me on my arm and brought me upstairs, to a room that seems like it hasn’t been used for a long time. Elena broke the silence, “Nanda, Andrew is my brother. He’s already dead.” I couldn’t believe what I’ve heard. Tears started to fall from my eyes. I couldn’t believe I fell in love with a ghost! Elena continued her explanation, “Exactly this day, last year, he had a car crash at America. When he was on the way to his friends halloween party. I’m so sorry. Maybe, he came back tonight…because he knew you were here. He missed you.” “What? How could he miss me?”, I said in disbelieve. “When I went to America, I always talked to him about you. About our friendship and everything. And, he fell in love with you.” I couldn’t stop the tears. How could I ever tell him that I love him too??? And as if an answer to my question, suddenly a message appeared on the stained window, I couldn’t believe what I saw.

I luv U Nanda

I ran to the window and wrote with my trembling finger,

I luv U 2 Andrew

P.S : Please do not laugh on my english. Thanks. :D

In America, we dress up for Halloween (or the kids do - not me anymore) but for the most part, I don't think Americans really believe in spiritual things. However, that may be why we never have spiritual experiences. My wife, born in Solo, has a LOT of stories about seeing animals and people when she was a kid that were not there, materially - nothing as good as your story though.
