My mom knit this shawl for me when I was born 63 years ago. When my kids came along, she made one for them too. And for a dear friend of mine when she had her baby too. Mom has passed away, but the memories ... they are as vivid as they ever were.

When I found out that I'm going to be a Grandma, not just once, but twice - once in March and once in May... I decided to carry on the tradition. The first one is done..

Thanks Nittineedles for posting the pattern. I have the original Monarch book somewhere, but for the life of me, I can't find it! The fact that you put it online is wonderful, and I will be forever grateful.
