I like period pieces myself. It's too bad you found the book weighed down with too much writing. That can kill a book for me. I'm going to have to write a review on a book I just finished reading. I wasn't sure I liked these paintings at first, but they sort of grow on you after a while. I agree that the first one is really mesmerizing (is that the right word?) -- his eyes are so piercing blue.

Les Paul is a native of Waukesha, WI -- which is only 20 minutes from where I live. They have constructed a museum in his honor in recognition of his greatness. I had no idea he is 92 and still out there playing. He's a true inspiration!
