My Economic Plan

As some of you know, or have read about my gardening. I had a bumper crop of okra, turnips and mustard greens. plus broccoli and collards. So whar I did, I picked them in large quanities, seasoned with bacon, salt and pepper and cooked them until they were ready to eat. Then I let them cool and put them in small containers (quart size) and froze them. So, I have lots of greens, about 20 quarts. Also cooked stew, chicken and dumplins, and dressing in large quanities. Oh, I forgot to mention thay I grew lots of yellow (summer) squash. I made casseroles and froze them. So I'm pretty well set for the winter in most ways except fot meat. And this is where my story for today begins.
I have a live trap that I set to catch some wild game, such as raccoon and squirrel. so this morning early, I went out into the woods to check my traps. I had caught an o'possum which I released. I don't eat them. So I went back into the house and got my 410 shotgun. Then went back into the woods to hunt squirrel or rabbit.
About 100 yards back into the woods it begins to get swampy, then there is a creek. Sometimes you can see a deer or two.But not this time.
By the way, this is a true story. Larry
PS, I will continue this story sometime

We also have a lot of stuff growing around here. We plant chili peppers, okra, eggplants, tomatoes, green onions, winter squash, etc. and all kinds of herbs (basil, lemon balm, oregano, cilantro/coriander, lemon grass [citronella]. We have fruits, too. Papaya, bananas, chico, mangoes, coconuts. Since we are in the tropics, things grow all year long. We don't hunt, but there are many kinds of ocean fish here a stone's throw from our beach.
