Brownies

Got a craving. I never liked brownies with frosting. I like these because they call for cocoa, which I always have on hand, as opposed to melting chocolate.

Brownies
1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup walnuts, chopped
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup flour
Pinch salt

Melt butter and brown sugar together. Beat the egg in a cup, add some of the slightly cooled butter/sugar to it, then stir into the rest of the butter/sugar in the pan. Add the rest of the ingredients, but don’t overmix. Spread in a greased square pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes, until firm to the touch but not dry.

I think the big trick is not cooking them too long.

I agree! There are tons of recipes out there for moist and chewy, and baking them just right makes the most difference.

My youngest loved brownies and made them at least once a week. Then she got married and left home.

Reminds me of my sister when we were growing up.
