It doesn't really matter how we do it but most of us cut with the fork if
the food is soft enough.

I learned the European style of eating as a young teen visiting Germany. It made so much sense, I have eaten than way ever since.

A friend just has been biopsied for skin cancer. Wear that hat, Kevin!

I think the European style where the fork stays in the left hand with the knife ready as a helper is more efficient. Watching my English cousins eat, some of them go to great lengths to build a bite of food on the fork: some meat, a little of the veg, and some sauce. It is more thoughtful eating than we do over here where we often dump the sauce over the meat, and eat the veg separate.

Thanks for the video! I'll show it to the person who needs the message.

Even with the warnings kids still turn at hospital up with severe sunburn.

I'm thinking it's a hold over from when mommy and daddy used to cut up all the food on the plate for us and then stick a spoon or fork in our hands. Knives are also handy for pushing food onto the fork. Forks are handy for cutting soft foods such as cooked veg and chips (if your not one who eats them with your fingers).

Was watching a movie--Cheyanne Social Club ---the other night where James Stewart was eating a meal, he used the knife to cut up his meal then put knife down and picked up his fork to eat with.
An old movie but a goodie.

We will use the left hand to 'hold' the meat and cut with knife in right hand then put fork and knife down and pick up fork in right hand to spear whatever we are going to put in our mouth! Do you really just eat with the knife??? That's what it sounds like!

Okay, we do it the European way , use the knife to cut and push meat and veg onto fork.
