Its Long But a Smile or Two

May you all have a happy July 4th

IN ME SHACK AT THE BACK
Ruemology . Finished up being an adventure on its own ,not only getting to the RAH but the information I received from doctor answered all my worries and put them to rest.
Cheated a bit on the train in , 10 minutes before the pensioner free ride kicked in , no worries , the train was quicker that I thought it would be, i was real early when reaching North Terrace expecting to be able to catch bus from there to RAH.
Then asked a few people if they could tell me about the bus , nope no one knew , one looked at me , he may as well said , piss off you old bastard and don’t annoy me.
Well I decided ,Sydney or the bush here goes nothing and I;ll walk , plenty of seats along North Terrace and its only half a mile , surprised my self
I made it easy, mind you i had green lights at the road crossings .With plenty of time in hand checked out the bus stop signs out front, 99c is the bus , Bewdy! at least I don't have to walk back.
Now to the best part, Ruemology. Half an hour early I expected a long wait , surprise again , got checked in , handed a note board with questionnaire had to tick off complaints I have had, done that when another lady asks me if I would like a cup of coffee, received that ,then a nurse bobs up to take my blood pressure, just about to have a drink when doctor tells me to follow her , bloody hell I think to myself things is fast around here . In her den she asks a few more questions, and tells me what they do, firstly they manage the steroids that I am on as they not only make some diseases they are used for healthy, but can also be dangerous more so in diabetic people like me any one with a bone complaint Arthritis - osteoporosis etc use the same treatment.
She the examined all my joints for pain -nothing , ok now to the treatment , I have to take sugar reading after break fast and again before evening meal as that would give the highest reading for the day, write them in a book to show next visit, told me to go and get blood sample taken from pathology, also over the next month I have to cut the tablets by half-- from 80 mg to 40.
To pathology -another another surprise , the nurse there explained that she has to copy out 6 forms dated so as to get the bloods done, the last is 2-1 -16 then when she was taking the sample she also noticed a band-aid on my arm , once again more info , don’t use band aid to cover wound as one on my medication gets thinned skin , will tear skin off if I am on steroids for a long time which the doctor told me I will be, she showed me the one to use which I have now bought.
No trouble getting home but I was K nackered -poppy sleep immediately .

that was the fastest ever treatment trip to hospital -- much more relaxed about things than I was , just knowing how and why I feel so well can actually walk easily with the walker (not game to give it away just yet) have stopped using my puffer , no problem drying after a shower, in other words its bloody marvellous, in one month have to cut the medication in half , worry worry worry---will I revert

No wonder you were tired. This is not a fun holiday for me. Ted has
been in bed all day, no really good food but looking forward to
a little vacation soon.

"I expected a long wait--that is the one thing I hate about going to doctors!
Taking a blood thinner I, too, can't use regular bandaids--I use nonstick pads with paper-like 'tape'.
My friend Allen has been taking his blood sugar count every morning for years!
