Steroids and the Baseball Hall of Fame ...

First, just to get this cleared up, I believe nobody should ever be even considered for election to the hall of fame if they used performance enhancing drugs, steroids, clear, or whatever.

Second, I believe that Roger Maris should be put in the hall of fame by the veterans committee. Maris never made it. He was two-time AL MVP, and he broke the Babe's home run record for a single season by hitting 61 homers. After all, Roger Maris is the only baseball player to hit more homers than the Babe who didn't use steroids.

Sammy Sosa, Mark McGuire, Barry Bonds all were juiced when they topped 61. They should be removed from eligibility for being voted into the hall of fame. It is moot whether steroids were legal, illegal, banned or not banned at points in their careers. They used, they were juiced. They were Frankensteins, not baseball heroes.

The same goes for anyone who may be exposed now or in the future. Alex Rodriguez was juiced. Ban him from the hall. He even should be banned from playing the game.

Bart Giamatti banned Pete Rose for life, so why is A-Roid still playing ball?

The Hall of Fame is all about integrity and character.

Keep it that way.
