I quit cigarettes in 1996 using my pipes to wean me off. It wasn't too rough. I got to the point where I was no longer inhaling the pipe smoke and an occasional cigar was treated the same way.
My wife walked on April 25, 2002 and I bought a pack of Camel Light 100s that day. I've smoked them since.
Today I purchased what will be my last pack. I have a few from the remaining pack and that whole pack. Sometime on Monday I will crunch out the last cigarette.
I must clean my pipes for the effort. I will use the same method I did in 96. I have a ton of cigars, too.
The reason(s)?
1. It is just time to quit.
2. That pack today cost a dollar more than the last one. They are now $5.33 a pack.
3. See reason number one.
I will not become a proselytizing ex-smoker. To me, rabid anti-smoking ex-smokers are both rude and selfish loudmouths. They should know better, having once been trapped in the habit.
I won't bitch and complain when people smoke around me - they can do it outdoors on my porch or patio. I sympathize.
I figure saving about 37.50 a week is worth it.
My clothes and car will smell better, too.
