The snow is falling again. Yesterdays total: 10 inches. That's official. Toledo got 11 but they didn't quite have as much already on the ground from Friday and Saturday's first storm.
Late last night a complete stranger went up and down our front sidewalks with a snowblower! Human kindness lives. The walks had already been cleared down to concrete but the fresh snow was probably about four or five inches when he did it. That will make it easier to clear later when the snow and wind stop.
I haven't looked at the Toyota out back since midday yesterday, but I can see it from the kitchen door. It looks like the Pillsbury Dough Boy with headlights. I probably will begin to dig it out later today but I don't intend to drive it anywhere until the alleys are more cleared.
I hear that all the county and township roads are still officially closed and dangerous. I remember how tough driving on a one-lane road with deep ditches on both sides can be in winter. In town it is bad enough.
This town closes the central streets in a snow emergency. You must move all parked cars so they can plow. If the car is not removed it gets a ticket. If it isn't removed after a few hours it is towed. But the tow trucks are all busy out in the country pulling cars out of those aforementioned ditches. Oh well.
Meanwhile, we survive by blogging, calling friends in sunny Florida and Malta, eating like food freaks, playing "GET IT" with the cats and staring forlornly at unfinished paintings.
Seven days until the pitchers and catchers show up for spring training! Football is finished, kaput, over! March madness is a couple weeks away. Hackey is getting near the playoff race. All this means that golf clubs are being cleaned and fondled.
Another day of captivity in the old house on Perry Street. Can it get any better?
