Plans mean nothing unless...
1. Tomorrow morning I am heading east northeast, slides in hand. I am trying to get photos of all my old paintings. I have about 30 slides of some of them. Remember 35mm slides? We used to shoot pics on slide film, because that's what we did. print film was atrocious and the prints were little, turned colors in a few years, and you couldn't blow them up like slides - on a white wall in your living room. So I dug through four decades of stuff, triaged my slides and must now digitally save them. My bud, Walt Herip, the next best designer in the western world, has a Nikon slide scanner in his office in Peninsula. I lived up the road back in the halcyon days from the early to mid-late 1970s. We taught together at the U.of Akron. So He consented for me to do the slides-to-DVD work on his nice machine.
2. Walt and I both are recent cigarette-free people. That will not be discussed much, as the subject brings on cravings. Instead, we will do coffee, and since it is going to be the weekend, maybe something liquid that if less opaque.
3. After which I will stop at my old house where my first wife, CJ, now lives with the dog and the cat whose names escape me. She has a few of my paintings that I need to shoot on the digital camera. Also, I found two pages of her slides in my stash, so I will be returning them. Once again I will offer the painting of our dog, Hamlet, in exchange for my giant strawberry shortcake painting. And she will turn it down once again.
4. Then I will try to stop at Avon on the way back and run through the Borders or the Barnes & Noble. Maybe Target, too.
5. I want to get off the country roads before dusk. Deer killing is awful here. Last winter there were more deer taken by vehicle accidents than were killed by rifle, bow and shotgun hunting. My splattered doe cost $3500 to my insurance company. But they paid for it all. I don't want my insurance to go any higher.
6. 110 miles each way. Gas is $1.89 9/10 today. That is actually $1.90/ Why do they keep the nine-tenths? I would ban the use of mills in any form of pricing.
7. 'Night.
