Up All Night and Drinking Coffee ...

Sounds like the name of a song. Somebody write it, will ya?

I hit the proverbial sack about 12 midnight, cause it's a full moon and I don't like the werewolves howling around my neighborhood - so I try to sleep through it. At 1:30 a.m. a foot cramp in my right leg woke me up and I had to walk it off in the bedroom.

Then about 2:30 a.m. it hit me again, on the lower right ankle, the foot and the shin muscles on the outside right. This really hurt, so I tossed the idea of sleep, came down the stairs (carefully because I could barely control my foot - it was trying to curl inside and backwards!) I started the coffee, went outside for a few minutes, then came in and got the cuppa.

So with a night to kill I decided to go back to my "new" madeover web site and tweak it again (fourth tweak job since the weekend.)

If you haven't seen it, you're missing something.

Bunjii is weaker by the day. I had him in my arms a lot while I was working today. It is hard. He purrs, though.

My second of three Wednesday night painting classes was last night. Before last night I thought they were slow and wouldn't get a chance to finish their paintings in three weeks.

Guess what??? They coulda wrapped it up last night! Everyone kicked in and worked harder and fast. I like what we accomplished.

I told them that next Wednesday we will sign the painting, then I will show them how to varnish them. You always varnish a painting flat on a table. Never ever while it is on an easel or leaning. Varnish drips and runs and sags.

Then we will enjoy some banter, celebrate somehow, and wait for the acrylic varnish to dry. I will photograph the six paintings, too.

Best class I ever taught at the Art Guild.

Today is Thor's Day. At six tonight I will go to Gottfried-Mann funeral home and look at my old friend, Jack, laying in his casket. I will not say it out loud, but in my mind I will ask him if he can get beer where he's headed. Jack could hold his brew.

One time we were at Clouse's in my hometown, Bascom, near here. We were at the bar and talked for five hours. Jack drank beer after beer, and none of that silly watered-down "light" stuff they call "beer." As I recall he swallowed over eight bottles.

And not once... not once did he ever go to the mens room.

Not once.

Jack went to every sports event he could find. He followed three or four high school baseball, basketball and football teams plus anything going on at Heidelberg College (they just changed their name to "...University.)

We'll sure miss him in the stands when football starts at Hopewell-Loudon this late summer.

I'm going for more java. Later...
