Laundry and the Pharmacy ...

The laundromat once again raised prices. The big ass machine washer now is 19 quarters. Used to be 14, then 16 then 17. The driers, fortunately, are still a quarter per 6 minutes.

Now, I calculate that I can save approximately $26 bucks a year if I purchase a set of used washer-dryers at about $200 each. So I am looking in the daily classifieds. After a year my laundry will be FREE... except for the soap and water and electricity and whatever. But then I will have that 26 bucks!

That will not quite be enough to pay for my two medications that I can't get from the VA. They cost about $54 a month.

Used to cost $14 until the pharmacies decided they needed more cash in order to pay for the other garbage they sell.

One of the pharmacies here (we now have 8 of them! In a town of 22,000 people, 4500 of whom are university students here part of the year!) now sells groceries. Only the frozen stuff, milk, canned food, etc. Would you buy your groceries at a pharmacy? It would compare to buying your drugs at a farm stand!

Anyway, the pharmacy that I choose to make my two prescriptions up is a large chain. They gave me the lowest price for a year, but now they have decided to increase it by about ten dollars.

So I asked for the prescription because I was moving it to Kroger, who quoted me the old price.

This f@#%^ing pharmacy told me they can't give me my written prescription because it is on file.

I told them it was my prescription and I wanted to move it.

They said "Can't."

I called my doctor and he wrote a new one, overnighted it to me and I took it to Kroger.

There. Go sell your damned canned peas and frozen chicken wings to someone stupid enough to shop for food at a pharmacy.

WAIT!

Kroger IS a supermarket!

I just can't win, can I!
