I began working for this day's Art festival around the last week of April, as that is the computer's date - April 25 - that I entered for the first of the small "Studies" I painted specifically for this show. I spent countless hours, days and weeks getting up for this event.

I made a grand total of $110. Ten bucks was for the sale of one computer wallpaper CD. One. Uno. The hundred was for the Honorable Mention prize I got for my booth design.

I sold one fooking CD. No paintings. Nada. Nyetchevo.

I won't get into the loss of sleep last night or the logistics of setting up the test booth last week, and the time spent this morning loading the car, unloading it and erecting the booth tent, putting up the peg board and hanging and labeling the items. Nah.

I have learned something:

1. You can't sell quality paintings here in an art festival, no matter how cheap you price them.

2. I can't waste my time painting for the proletariat, doing 8 x 10 little masterpieces and offering them for forty, fifty and sixty bucks.

3. I am not going to do any more art festivals, tent booth shows or outdoor sales. I will go back to painting what I want, as I like, for sale via my web site and to galleries in cities that have galleries.

I will post photos of the festival, my booth, etc., probably tomorrow when I get them off the camera.

It is time for a Dewar's on ice, some quality time with my cats, and some sleep.
