My Challenge Here ...

Above is a photo I took of the new location of the Tiffin Art Guild, effective May 1st. We closed the present location to the public effective today, April 1st.

The decision to shut our doors to the public while we prepare the galleries for the move was mine. I attempted to get input and feedback from the other board members but they ignored my requests... except for our treasurer, who is as active as me on a daily basis. She agreed with the decision.

The current location is closed because - DUH - there is no art on display. We removed it from the walls and easels yesterday. We did that so we can remove all the hanging apparatus along the wall-ceiling edges and reinstall it at the new location. (There will be NO nails in the walls at our new true gallery!)

So here's beef number one: The President emailed me to say that a few members bitched to him that I was shutting down the gallery, that I had told them there would be no comfortable soft chairs at the new location for the volunteers to sit upon, that I had told everyone to remove their artwork from the old gallery by the end of this week and that I had said we were giving everything in the old gallery to Goodwill.

My reply: I said none of those things, nor did I infer any of those things, and who the hell said such nonsense to our President?

Well, I did shut the gallery to the public, because as I already stated - there is no art on the walls. Galleries must have art on the walls or they are not galleries.

I do what I do for the Guild free of charge. I don't get paid or awarded a wristwatch or a stipend for all this time and effort. I try to please everyone as best I can and in some cases I simply keep my mouth shut... as some of them cannot seem to do.

The problem here is that most of the volunteers who spend four hours a week at the gallery are retired ladies with little or nothing to do. The few who are not in that category don't complain, lie or start malicious rumors.

It seems that I have no choice but to go on defending myself and keeping totally quiet and secretive about each step in our move. Maybe that way I can continue this without f**king insults like this.
